Detroit Pistons Bulk Up Frontcourt In 2011 NBA Mock Draft
Detroit has a promising young center in Greg Monroe, but the power forward position has no such encouraging prospects. Austin Daye is too skinny to be an effective 4-man, and Ben Wallace is on his way out.
The Pistons look to bring in their power forward of the future by picking Kansas star Marcus Morris. Though he has a decent jump shot, Morris? strength is his ability to bang on the interior on both ends of the floor.
Morris is a very close call at this pick over brother Markieff (slightly less polished offensively) and Texas standout Tristan Thompson (not quite as physical inside).
With Morris and Monroe, the Pistons will have the foundations of a power frontcourt very much in keeping with the traditions of a franchise that reveres names like Bob Lanier and Rick Mahorn.
