Video: Murray uses injured ankle to his advantage in French victory

Did rolling his ankle early in the second set of his third-round win at the French Open help Andy Murray put away the match more quickly?

While coming to net early in the match against Michael Berrer, Murray had an awkward slide near the net that buckled his right ankle. He hobbled around in pain for a few seconds before falling to the red clay of Roland Garros to receive medical attention. Replays looked gruesome and there was a concern that the Brit may not be able to return at full strength, if at all.

Murray got taped and came back looking even better than he did before the injury. Instead of engaging in long rallies with the German, Murray went for winners to shorten the points and the strategy worked to his advantage. He won 11 of 14 games after the fall and did so quickly so as not to put any more stress on the hobbled ankle.

Injuries like that tend to get worse the day after, so Murray could be in for a day of swelling tomorrow. He's underwent testing after the match to determine the extent of his injury. At the least, he'll have 48 hours to rest before his fourth-round match against Viktor Troicki.

The good news for Murray? Troicki also isn't 100 percent. He's been suffering from the effects of food poisoning for the past 48 hours.
