Squabbles and dives aside, Abidal’s return is incredibly awesome

Well, the fifth and final Clasico of the season and fourth of the last 18 days is finally over and instead of continuing the discussions of dishonesty and dives, red cards and racism, let's protect what little sanity we still have and focus for a moment on something truly awesome -- the return of Eric Abidal.

Abidal came on for Carles Puyol in the final minutes of Barcelona and Real Madrid's 1-1 second leg draw. With Barca's advancement to the final virtually sealed with a 3-1 aggregate score, Abidal made his first appearance in match since undergoing an operation to remove a tumor from his liver in March. less than six weeks later, he returned to training and now, he's back.

"'Abi' can't play 90 minutes, he has lost weight. But he is in perfect health and he'll be able to help us," Pep Guardiola told reporters before the match, according to the AFP. But at his incredible rate of recovery, he probably will be playing the full 90 before you can say "Seriously, French football is a total mess right now."

After the game, instead of hoisting up The Golden Pep or any of the semifinal's goal scorers, the Barca players lifted Abidal and tossed him around. Well, most of them did. Messi couldn't reach.
