Thursday's Three Stars: Vokoun's perfect; Bourque spears Doughty

No. 1 Star: Tomas Vokoun, Florida Panthers

For the fifth time this season, Vokoun made more than 35 saves for a Panthers win. Thursday night, Vokoun stopped 36 Washington Capitals shots en route to a 3-0 shutout. It was Vokoun's third shutout of the season and 41st of his 13-year career. Michael Frolik opened the scoring with under a second remaining in the second period and Steve Bernier and Mike Santorelli scored in the third period for the Panthers for their third straight win. The win snapped a six-game Florida losing streak against the Capitals.

No. 2 Star: Danny Briere, Philadelphia Flyers

Giving him a team lead in goals with 16, Briere scored twice as the Flyers downed the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-1. Briere also recorded an assist on Chris Pronger's fourth goal of the year in the first period and finished a plus-three. Brian Boucher made 31 saves for his third win in four starts. Ville Leino was a plus-three and scored his seventh of the season to open the game.

No. 3 Star: Andrew Brunette, Minnesota Wild

Brunette's two goals powered the Wild to a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes Thursday night. He opened the scored 6:52 into the first and then his second of the night came on the power play with 9:50 to go in the third to give Minnesota a 3-1 lead. Niklas Backstrom made 33 saves for his first win in four starts.

Honorable mention: Milan Lucic scored his 14th and 15th goals of the season and Tuukka Rask made 33 saves as the Boston Bruins beat the New York Islanders 5-2 ... After Chris Neil took a charging penalty midway through the third period, New York Rangers rookie Mike Sauer scored his first NHL goal during a three-goal comeback in a 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators ... Paul Gaustad and Thomas Vanek each scored twice and Cody McCormick added tree points as Buffalo beat San Jose 6-3. Ryan Miller made 26 save for his 10th win of the season. Tyler Myers finished a plus-five and Andrej Sekera was a plus-four. Sharks' rookie Logan Couture scored his sixth goal in four games in the loss ... Behind Jaroslav Halak's 27 saves and David Backes' three points, the St. Louis Blues got past the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1. St. Louis' power play was on point scoring on all three opportunities ... Jonathan Quick's 26 saves and Anze Kopitar's 11th goal of the year were enoughfor the Kings to get by the Calgary Flames 2-1. Kyle Clifford scored his first NHL goal in the first period for Los Angeles.

Dishonorable mention: The Capitals power play went 0-for-8 against the Panthers as they lost their fourth in a row ... Toronto finished 20-for-63 in the faceoff circle ... The Islanders are 1-15-3 in their last 19 games ... There'll be lots of talk tomorrow about Matt Carkner's blood-flicking motion towards the Rangers bench after his fight with Derek Boogaard ... Dan Boyle took a puck to the head, which ended up going into his own net:
