At the RoboCup Japan Open 2011, they had a giant, creepy cat robot playing football because someone apparently felt that needed to happen. It had the ability to walk backwards like a drunk and set itself up for a free kick in a manner vaguely similar to Cristiano Ronaldo. But when it came time to actually kick the ball, Giant Creepy Robot Cat slowly lost its balance and fell over, decapitating itself.
The good news? It looks like we're still a few years away from a team of these things qualifying for the World Cup.
