Isner and Mahut get a plaque at Wimbledon honoring marathon

I'd imagine John Isner and Nicolas Mahut will go out of their way to avoid walking past Court 18 this year at Wimbledon. The memory of their three-day, 138-game fifth set from last year is so fresh that the simple act of seeing Court 18 out of the corner of their eye could cause severe cramping and fatigue.

If they do want to risk bringing back old memories, the two players will see a nice surprise at the entrance to the outer court. Wimbledon organizers recently unveiled a plaque honoring the participants of the longest match in tennis history.

Boy, are they gonna feel stupid when there's an 11 hour, six minute match this year!

This was one of four plaques installed at the All England Club before the 2011 tournament. The others commemorated the openings of the new No. 2 and No. 3 Courts and Centre Court's retractable roof, suggesting that the maybe the guardians of Wimbledon aren't as judicious with their plaque-worthy subects as you'd think.
