DTotD: Nigeria kick, fly into Germans (and mostly get away with it)

Nigeria knew their Women's World Cup group stage match against Germany would be tough and they needed three points, so their strategy for Thursday's game seemed to be to try and beat the Germans into submission. You can see a couple examples of Nigeria's kicks to the knee and flying body checks in the video above. The amazing thing? Just one Nigeria player was booked during the match.

Germany struggled to find a goal, but Simone Laudehr did score in the 54th minute to give them a 1-0 win. By not punishing Nigeria's roughhousing, this could give Germany's future opponents ideas on how to try and neutralize them. And because of that, Alexandra Popp might want to start wearing a helmet for these matches.
