Serena Williams kills herself on Twitter to raise money for AIDS

Serena Williams is dead. Or, more appropriately, @serenawilliams is dead.

The tennis star has joined other celebrities in killing her online persona until $1 million is raised for AIDS victims in Africa and India. Fans can donate a minimum of $10 to the movement by texting "Serena" to 90999.

Serena will stop updating her Facebook and Twitter accounts until the money is raised. So if you're one of the 1.8 million followers who thrive on reading Serena's daily, 140-character interactions with @msselitaebanks, get out your cell phone and donate to the cause.

Other stars involved in the "Buy Life" campaign include Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, Lady Gaga, Diddy, Khloe Kardashian and Swizz Beats. Makes you wonder why they didn't include an option to donate without contributing to buying back the star's digital selves.

Oh, I'm only kidding. This is a great cause and kudos to Serena and the other celebs for taking part in the fundraising efforts. As of the time this post was published, over $100,000 had been donated in the first day.
