Kaka’s beard might be a negotiation tactic

When Kaka stepped onto the pitch with the beginnings of a hobo beard against Tottenham this week, he obviously didn't look like his normal baby-faced self and people noticed the difference. Which might have just been the whole idea.

According to El Economista, Kaka's stubble may not have been the result of simply being too lazy to shave for a few days. Their theory is that Kaka was trying to prove how valuable and attention-grabbing his chin whiskers really are to Gillette -- the razor manufacturer that dropped him as a spokesman back in December along with Tiger Woods, Thierry Henry, Rafa Marquez and Lionel Messi (who, unlike the others, became too expensive to retain).

If true, this could be the start of an epic game of chicken between Kaka and Gillette. How long will he grow out his beard if they keep ignoring his follicular efforts? Here's to hoping he has a long, scraggly prospector's beard come Copa America.
