Christian returned to SmackDown this week to save Edge from a brutal beat-down by Alberto Del Rio. It's not the first time Christian has saved Edge from Del Rio: He also saved him at the PPV Elimination Chamber.
So, what does this mean? Are Edge and Christian together again?
The pair split in 2001 after months of built-up tension, and went their separate ways. Edge went on to become one of the top heels of WWE and won the WWE championship and world championship on several occasions.
Christian left WWE in 2005 for TNA and became its heavyweight champion. The company gave him opportunities WWE never did and pushed him to the top.
However, Christian left TNA in 2009 and returned to WWE.
After Christian's return he became the ECW champion, which, many argue, is a small accomplishment because ECW was WWE’s bitch. It was where wrestlers tested the water to see if they'd float or sink.
When the ECW brand folded, Christian was sent packing to RAW. His stay did not last long, however, because in a matter of months he was drafted to SmackDown. He then got injured in September and has not been seen on SmackDown since.
It’s needless to say Christian’s second run in WWE is not living up to his first or to his time in TNA. What is WWE doing wrong?
Everything.
It seems WWE just does not know what to do with Christian. He can wrestle, he has the charisma and the fans love him. So, why won’t WWE push him?
I think Christian represents a lot of wrestlers who have the talent but just don'’t get the opportunities.
That's why I think he should be reunited with Edge again. Edge and Christian are like two peas in a pod. Their characters play off one another and it just clicks.
Reuniting the tag team could finally give Christian the chances he deserves. They could reunite as fan favourites, but then Christian could turn on Edge and make his life hell. He could play mind games with Edge and drive him to the breaking point. It could go on for months, with Christian finally winning Edge's belt.
Maybe it’s only wishful thinking, but I really think reuniting Edge and Christian right now would be the best thing for them.
And let’s face it: The fans want it to happen.
