Chris Jericho on Returning to WWE: ?I Never Intended To Re-Sign?

Many consider Chris Jericho to be one of the most well-rounded superstars in professional wrestling history, with his ability to put on an outstanding performance inside the squared circle, as well as his incredible ability to get over as a hated villain or a fan favorite.

With speculation swirling that Jericho will return at the Royal Rumble, or in time for WrestleMania XXVII—following the expiration of his contract in 2010—the first undisputed WWE Champion in history declared that he is finished with “The Worldwide Leader in Sports Entertainment” in a recent interview.

“As simple as you can put it, my contract ran out and I’ve moved on. That’s basically it. People are always looking for dirt and ask, ‘When are you coming back?’ and ‘What happened?’ and whatever. My contract ended and I decided to continue on in my life,” Chris Jericho told Al Castle of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. “That’s basically in a nutshell the answer to give you. I’m not working with WWE.”

It appears as if Jericho is also more than satisfied with his last stint, if that was indeed his last run.

“I loved the work I was doing. I think it was some of the best of my career. But I never intended to re-sign again after coming back for that three-year period,” Jericho added in the magazine, which is on news stands now. “And that three-year period ran out and there’s other things going on. That’s basically it. There’s no hidden agenda. No hidden secret. People are waiting for the other shoe to drop, and there really isn’t another shoe to drop. I did the job I was signed up to do, and that’s it.”

Several people have linked a possible return of Jericho to the company for WrestleMania due to his new book, Undisputed: How to Become the World Champion in 1,372 Easy Steps, coming out in February, as an avenue to promote it.

Jericho currently has been touring with his band, Fozzy, since being punted in the head by “The Viper” Randy Orton on an episode of WWE Monday Night RAW last year, and it doesn’t appear as if we will see him on WWE programming anytime soon.
