It's no secret that Jose Mourinho develops cult-like bonds with many of the footballers who play for him, but Inter's Wesley Sneijder reveals just how far he was willing to go for his former manager. And all because he told the midfielder to go to the beach for a few days.
From Football Italia:
Interviewed in France Football, Sneijder revealed: “Once he said to me: 'Wesley you look tired. Take a few days off. Go get some sun with your wife and child'.
“All the other Coaches [in my career] only spoke about training. He sent me to the beach. So I went to Ibiza for three days.
“When I got back, I was prepared to kill and die for him.”
Oh, now you say this, Wesley? That information would have been a lot more valuable to Mourinho, say, just before or during Monday's match against Barca.
Still, who knew it was so easy to possess the mortal fiber of a professional footballer? Recommending they take a few days at the beach is really all it takes to turn them into your own personal Terminator? I'm going to call Rino Gattuso right now.
